Public employment has never been easy. Each day America's public employees
perform some of the most difficult, dangerous, and challenging work.
Court Clerks and Judicial Assistants, public employees, are proud of
the work they do--work that is vital in keeping our communities functioning
and responsive to the needs of citizens
There's never been a more challenging time to be working for the California
courts than today. Court employees are facing issues they never faced
before. In these tough and uncertain times, you need a tough organization
behind you.
Unlike most public employee bosses, the judges of the Superior Court,
are elected, and AFSCME is aggressively active in political action and
legislative lobbying. Our international constitution says "For unions,
the workplace and the polling place are inseparable..." No matter what
your political views may be, because you are a public employee, you
need to protect yourself.
Not only does AFSCME have one of the largest political action committees
in the country, it is also recognized by people on all sides of the
political spectrum as the most effective voice for working people.
You are the union. Your voice counts. Through your participation, you
are the heart and soul of the union.
